Why drinking water to shed weight is a waste of time

(No matter how many studies are done to refute the drinking 8 glasses of water a day helps in weight loss, the majority of people are going to argue against it. None of “The Aliens” have ever had a doctor confirm the “8 glasses of water a day helps in weight loss”. Ever.
Somehow, this theory is so ingrained in peoples’ minds that short of Moses coming down from the mountain again and disputing it in stone, it is still going to be widely believed.)
